Styling

As my music video is rocky I have decided I want my actors to wear rock sort of clothes.

For the bottoms I would like two of my actors to wear chinos. The reason for this is because my actors are quite young and in todays society a lot of young people wear these. Also I think it will connect to my target audience. I also like the look of them on my two actors and it really suites them. Another reason why I have chosen chinos is because I want the video I have chosen to be different to the video I have made. I want them to contrast.

For my lead actor I want him to wear a decent pair of jeans. The reason why I don't want him to wear chinos is because he is classed as the "lead singer" in my music video therefore they must be different. Also I like the idea of a rocky pair of jeans involved in the music video. I feel that jeans are in todays society and everyone wears them. When I have watched music videos relating to my genre of music I have noticed that people do wear these similar jeans or perhaps a little bit different. Also the idea of straight jeans instead of baggy jeans is because a lot of people who like this sort of music wear these sort of jeans.

For the tops I want the style to be just t-shirt with maybe a logo that everyone knows just so again people will relate to the clothing. I have decided that all three of my actors will wear different t-shirts and the two back up singers can wear perhaps a shirt over the top of the t-shirt. I want the colours of the t-shirt to be bright and to stand out. The idea that I perhaps want a shirt over the top will be dependant on the colour of the t-shirt. For example the image to the right doesn't need a shirt as it is bright and stands out.

However if the t-shirt I chose is plain then the idea of a shirt over the top would look quite nice.

For the foot ware I would like the two back up singers to wear vans. I think this would go very well with the chinos. I feel the idea of a nice foot ware to go with the outfit will really stand out.

When it comes to hair styles my two back up singers have longish hair therefore I think this would look good when my lead singer has short hair. I want my lead singer to look again different to the back up singers to highlight that he is more important.

The main props that I will be using in the music video is a base guitar and a guitar. The reason for using these as props is because in the song you can hear musical instruments therefore I want them to be included. I want the guitars to be plugged in and the wires all messy to highlight the fact that perhaps they are at a gig.

The lighting I will be using in the music video is high key. I want the lighting to be more natural to relate to the genre of the song. Most of the music videos I have looked at have high key lighting. For example the image on the left is from the band I have chosen. Therefore as it is high key I should follow the idea. I don't like the idea of having a low  key video due to the fact that it is quite dark and gothy.

Treatment overview

Working Title: The crow and the butterfly- Shinedown
Synopsis: There is going to be no story behind the music video. Just the three main actors performing their song. From the music video's I have analysed and the feedback that I received this is not what a lot of people look for however I like the idea of something different. My feedback resulting in creating a story behind the video and just the main singers where pretty much level headed. The music video will mainly take place in a living room with a black and white wall.
Format: I will be using the Sony A1 recording camera to create the music video using final cut to edit it.
Estimated duration: 4mins 10seconds
Intended audience: My main target audience is males and females from 17-24. My target audience also stretches to males 35-45 based on my feedback I received.
Style:  The style of my music video is going to be related to the band shinedown. No expressions just singing and perhaps a little depressing the reason for this is because even though I did want to be slightly different I also want it to relate to the band as well.
Rationale: Based on the research I have done, no matter what I can relate the video to the bands other video's because it still claims the same target audience. I want my target audience to be 17-24 and therefore relating it to a video that has the similar target audience should follow my trend.

Outline of initial ideas

I have decided that I am going to have three boys/men in my video. One playing guitar, one playing base and the other singing. I have decided I wanted boys/men in my video due to the fact that the song that I am doing is played by a group of men, also I feel that I don't particularly want women in my video as the song I am doing doesn't relate to women that much.

The setting for my video is in my house with a black and white wallpaper along with a big black fire place. I want to have the colours of black and white and not any other colours. I feel that this will be a good idea as the band I am doing doesn't really include much colour in the videos anyway.

I am not going to have much of a story behind my video just the band and shoot them in certain locations fitting in with my colour contrast for example in the garden at night time with just the lights shinning, in the living room with a black wall paper.

The costumes I want them to wear are black and white clothing perhaps black jeans with a white top or maybe two in black one in white.
